The School of Healthcare Enterprise and Innovation (SHEI) is welcoming applications for someone to manage the new the School of Healthcare Enterprise & Innovation Design Suite, which will provide year-round support for the new MSc programme in Medical Technology Innovation and Design (MTID). We are looking for a highly motivated individual who will support our students in creating cutting-edge medical technology prototypes. This will involve ensuring the safe and effective running of the design suite and providing high-quality technical support for prototyping, using a range of tools for things such as 3D printing and basic electronics. There will also be the opportunity to contribute to teaching and academic publications, and the successful post-holder will be supported in Continuous Professional Development activity.

SHEI is a community of researchers, healthcare professionals and educators who champion the development of healthcare innovations that generate social change and economic benefits. The MTID programme is an ambitious and unique postgraduate programme for the UK; project-based, it brings together students from various disciplinary backgrounds to design new medical technologies, which address significant clinical problems in both UK and global healthcare contexts.?

We are looking for candidates with experience or aptitude in managing facilities, budgets, and health and safety. Candidates should be able to demonstrate technical skills in 3D printing (including CAD), electronics (to at least a basic level), and laser cutting.

We are seeking an experienced research engineer in software/firmware for sensors to join the CUE Robotics Team at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic, fast-paced environment, working alongside experts in robotics and automation. The role offers exceptional access to world-class laboratory facilities and cutting-edge technologies, placing you at the forefront of innovative research and development.

This position will play a key role in a small team developing novel automated inspection systems for the UK’s next-generation submarine fleet, with a particular focus on the inspection of structural components, tanks, and pipework. We? are looking for a candidate with substantial professional engineering experience (including working to standards) to complement the research strengths of the existing team.

To be considered for this role, you will hold a PhD in engineering or equivalent. You should have a proven track record of delivering complex engineering projects, with hands-on expertise in software design and architecture, system integration, project management, and technical documentation. The role involves regular travel to partner sites for meetings and demonstrations, so applicants must be willing and able to travel. A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous.

This is a full-time, fixed-term post for an initial period of three years, with the potential for extension subject to future funding. The role is based at the University’s city centre campus in Glasgow.

*Whilst a Post-Doctoral Research Associate is ideally sought for this position; applications from candidates who are close to PhD completion or whose award is pending, are welcome. About the role

We are pleased to offer this role as a maternity cover, and an excellent opportunity to lead our ambitious dynamic research support team in the School of 51吃瓜 Affairs, providing leadership of our fantastic team proving pre-and-post award support across our School.

The School Research Manager (SRM) will set the strategic direction for and manage the School Research Team.? ?They will provide comprehensive support and advice for staff wishing to apply for research funding and consultancies.?

The SRM will oversee the delivery of research support services for all staff and students within the School of 51吃瓜 Affairs, working with the Faculty and Arts & Science Research Offices.??The role will work closely with the relevant officers and offices within the University and with research funders to secure and manage grants.? They will support the development, writing and submission of research proposals in accordance with policies and procedures for research grant submission as agreed with the Faculty and the Arts & Sciences Research Office.?? The SRM will work with the Faculty Research Team to provide the full range of administrative support for the Research Excellence Framework in conjunction with Faculty colleagues and academic leads of the various Units of Assessment within the School.??

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an a fixed term 12 month contract until July 2026.

	High standard of numeracy with proven budget management and proven ability to advise on budget deviancies to ensure best project outcomes
	Experience of managing a diverse team and resources

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate to work in the group of Dr Gregory Perry for a period of up to 3 years. The position will be based at the University of Southampton, one of the UK’s top research-intensive universities. Chemistry at Southampton has a national and international reputation for excellence with world-leading facilities.

Applicants must hold a PhD in synthetic chemistry (or be close to completion) or have equivalent professional qualifications and experience. Expertise in organic synthesis are required and experience in the preparation and manipulation of sensitive organometallics/organometallic complexes are favourable. Skills in any of the following areas will prove beneficial: catalysis, photo-, electro- and/or mechanochemical synthesis, mechanistic studies. You are expected to have an excellent work ethic and an enthusiasm to achieve the project aims. You will also be involved in the general running and maintenance of the laboratory.

The project will involve expanding our work on Dual-Function Reagents (see Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2023, 62, e202218371). You will join a creative group focused on designing new reagents and methods in an exciting area in organic synthesis. The project will expand your synthetic skills and provide you with expertise in organometallic chemistry and isotope labelling. Opportunities to explore other areas, such as catalysis, photo-, electro- and mechanochemistry, are also available. You will be able to present you research results at national and international conferences, and you will improve your leadership skills by assisting Dr Perry in the management of the research group. If desired, opportunities to involve yourself in teaching at the University of Southampton are also available, though this is not a requirement. As our research group grows, we hope you will help us maintain the friendly and supportive work environment that we have established.
