The University of Western Sao Paulo, often referred to as UNOESTE, is the largest institution of higher education in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo.

The history of UNOESTE dates back to 1972, with the founding of the Presidente Prudente Educational and Cultural Association.

UNOESTE received official recognition and accreditation from the Brazilian Ministry of Education on 12 February 1987 and since then has evolved to offer undergraduate programmes across 54 disciplines, more than 100 diploma courses, four MSc programmes, two PhD programmes and distance learning courses.

The university also has wide ranging national and international partnerships offering students international job opportunities and language courses.

The university is spread across 326 square meters encompassing clinics, spacious classrooms, specialised laboratories, libraries, research centres and residential buildings. The university is made up of two campuses in Sao Paulo.

The university has established an Inter Institutional Relations Advisory with a goal of increasing fellowships, scholarships, financial aid, vocational courses and job opportunities for its faculty members and students.
