About Social Sciences University of Ankara

Basic information and contact details for Social Sciences University of Ankara

institution

Social Sciences University of Ankara was founded in 2013 in the Turkish capital city.

It is Turkey*s first state university for social sciences. It is housed in a building that was used as the Turkish prime minister*s office between 1925 and 1937.

Its undergraduate and postgraduate courses are spread across five faculties: law; divinity; political science: social sciences and humanities; and foreign languages. Courses are primarily taught in English, although law is primarily taught in Turkish and 30 per cent of the divinity course is taught in Arabic.

It also runs a technology development zone, which brings together entrepreneurs to help solve the social problems Turkey is facing.

The university offers students access to several foreign-exchange programmes. Athletic students are able to compete in sports tournaments against other Turkish universities. There are also a range of social, artistic and cultural clubs, including the ASBU music community, the young Red Crescent society and the travel and nature community.
