Point Park University is an arts university, which is based in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 

The university has roots dating back to 1933, when it was formed as a one-room business school. It was formerly known as Point Park College, and the current name was revised in 2004.

Point Park University is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges & Schools Commission on Higher Education. There are some 82 undergraduate programmes and 18 graduate programmes on offer to students through a variety of colleges, which are: School of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of Communication and the Conservatory of Performing Arts.

Some of the most popular courses on offer are: mechanical engineering, criminal justice, business management, journalism, economics and finance. 

The campus is situated nearby the Point State Park 每 which the university was named after 每 in the city*s Golden Triangle. Moreover it is located in the centre of the business district, ensuring that students are in the middle of the action.

This also ensures that the university is within walking distance of the cultural district meaning that there is plenty for students to do. 

Sports teams 每 nicknamed the Pioneers 每 play as part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and primarily compete in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC). Baseball is the dominant sport, however others on offer include: basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball and volleyball.

Notable alumni include Rob Ashford, an American director and choreographer who has a Tony Award, Olivier Award, Emmy Award, Drama Desk Award, and Outer Critics Circle Award to his name, John Robert Magaro, an American film, television and stage actor, and Greg Brown, an American sportscaster.
