About the opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Lecturer in Speech Pathology to join our Health Faculty.

This role combines Education and Research, offering a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the academic, clinical, and professional landscape.

Join our newly established central Academic Integrity Unit as an Academic Integrity Officer, where you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining and promoting academic integrity across the University. Your responsibilities will include assessing allegations of academic misconduct, conducting investigations, and recommending appropriate outcomes.

Working collaboratively within a newly formed team led by the Associate Director, Academic Integrity, you'll contribute to fostering a student-centred approach that prioritises education, fairness, and continuous improvement in managing academic integrity.

	Assist the senior management in reviewing and formulating the University's strategies and policies in research

The Sensor Enabled Research & Control Hub (SEARCH) at the University of Strathclyde are seeking to recruit a Research Fellow to develop, manage and coordinate R&D activities focused on in-process inspection of fusion welding and additive manufacturing operations within large multi-partner collaborative research projects.

You will lead and be responsible for aspects related to enhancing the in-process inspection, imaging and defect detection/interpretation in weld manufacturing in-process inspections. You will be motivated by the aim of acquiring, interpreting and reporting scientific in-process inspection results to the supervision team, industrial stakeholders, and the overall project team.??You will be motivated in translating such innovations onto industrial partner sites and factories, engaging with the partners to ensure successful trialling and optimisation. Scientific publication and dissemination of results will be required, through both academic journals and conferences.

Daily activities within the role will include one or more of the following depending on skills and experiences:


	Research in high-temperature phased array ultrasonics
	?In-process phased array ultrasonic imaging during fusion welding
	?Signal processing, ultrasonic calibration, automated data and defect interpretation/sentencing
	?Translation of in-process inspection innovations to industrial partner sites and shopfloors.


To be considered for the role, you will have a good honours degree and PhD / higher degree (or equivalent professional experience) in appropriate discipline. (e.g. mechanical & electrical engineering, physics, automation); or have equivalent relevant experience in addition to a relevant Degree. You will have an ability to conduct individual research work, manage and supervise other researchers, disseminate results and be responsible for acquisition of funding (as PI/Co-I). You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to listen, engage and persuade and to present complex information in an accessible way to a range of audiences, and you will have the ability to work as part of a team, integrating with existing research team members and collaborating effectively with both academic and industrial partners.

The Research Fellow will be required to travel to partner sites for technical meetings and project demonstrations on a regular basis and, as such, applicants must be willing and able to travel. Applications from candidates with a valid UK driving licence are therefore desirable.

While the initial post is for an initial 12-month period, the project is part of a much larger body of work and as such it is anticipated that continued employment would continue past this initial phase based on satisfactory performance.

*Whilst Research Fellows are sought for these positions, applications from candidates at Research Associate level may also be considered. Dependent on the profile and experience of the candidate the appointment may be made at a lower level (RS07 salary scale ?37,174 - ?45,413) and duties will be adjusted to reflect the grade of the post.

The University is looking to appoint a Conference Host to join the team which supports commercial and corporate event activity within our award-winning Technology & Innovation Centre (TIC), across the campus, and supporting our Conference Management Service (CMS).

The Technology & Innovation Centre (TIC) is the University’s flagship research facility, opened by HM The Queen in July 2015. TIC is home to ?11m of dedicated, flexible conferencing facilities, and has quickly established itself as one the country’s most popular venues for business events and academic meetings, hosting more than 600 events and 46,000 delegates in academic year 2023/24 alone. The venue won the Bronze award for UK Best Academic Venue at the Meetings & Incentive Travel awards magazine in March 2019; was named Best Academic Venue at the CHS Awards in June 2019; Best Scottish Venue & Events Team at the E Awards in 2023 and is a proud holder of Green Tourism Gold accreditation.

Our Conference Hosts provide a range of practical support services to conference organisers, to ensure that all attendees have a first-class customer experience, whether their event takes place on campus or online. The post-holder plays a key role in supporting day-to-day operations, both on campus and online. Duties include (but are not limited to):


	First point of contact for building visitors, assistance with wayfinding in the building and general use of the facilities
	Providing front line support to all event organisers including troubleshooting, adjusting programs and requirements and relaying updated information to other operational departments
	Assisting with guest service, room set-ups, portering, and basic audio-visual support as operations require
	Management of event details for Occupant Room Use bookings, liaising with the Business Development Co-ordinator and with room bookers, to ensure that such meetings are delivered effectively, professionally and in a manner complementary to commercial conferencing activity.
	Supporting date entry, configuration of specific elements of functionality within the CMS platform; supporting attendee registration.


The Hosts work closely with the Conference Porter, Conference Operations Co-ordinators, Conference & Events Officers and the Conference Operations Manager, and with other operational support staff based in the venue.

The post-holder will be required to work 35 hours per week, 5 days over 7. Shift patterns will depend on the needs of the business, but will regularly include hours outside the normal working week, i.e. early mornings, evenings and weekends, throughout the year. A 5% premium will be added to the salary of the successful candidate to reflect this non-standard working pattern.

The Conference Host is essential to the effective operation of a first-class event experience at the University. The role requires a motivated, enthusiastic individual with an eye for detail, a calm and professional demeanor, experience within a conferencing or events environment and a flexible approach to their work.
