Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike is one of three universities of agriculture established by the Federal Government of Nigeria. It was established in 1992.
The university is located in Umudike, a town in Ikwuano Local Government Area Abia State, Nigeria. Umudike is 11 kilometers southeast of the state capital city, Umuahia. 
There are currently 12 colleges within the university: agricultural economic and extension, applied food sciences and tourism, animal science and animal production, crop and soil sciences, engineering and engineering technology, natural resources and environmental management, education, natural science, physical and applied sciences, management science, veterinary medicine, and the school of general studies.
Each college is divided into different departments, which offer a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes. 
The university is home to a number of centres including the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Centre for Gender and Child Development, and the Centre for Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnology. These centres facilitate research projects conducted by both students and staff. 
The university’s motto is "knowledge, food and security". It aims to provide the knowledge base for achieving food security and alleviate hunger in Nigeria and around the world.

The postholder will lead a team responsible for providing critical information and understanding regarding incoming students and act as a research and insight hub for the university’s student recruitment efforts.

By conducting market insight and research analysis, identifying the prospective student journey, understanding key decision points and influencers, and ensuring accurate measurement and reporting of performance metrics, this role will inform and help to shape our overall recruitment strategy to guarantee continued success in an increasingly competitive global market. As a member of the 51吃瓜 Student Recruitment and Admissions senior team, and working collaboratively with peers, the postholder will identify key areas for investment, opportunities for growth, and optimisation of recruitment strategies in line with core King’s principles.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in market research and data analysis leadership positions, preferably in large and complex environments. In working with colleagues across the university, and from various disciplinary backgrounds, they will be required to evidence excellent communication and analytical skills, and able to lead and collaborate on large projects. From its earliest years, the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) has been fundamentally changing and shaping how we understand, prevent and treat mental illness and other conditions that affect the brain.? The legacy, ethos and drive of the IoPPN has ensured its position at the forefront of mental health care, redefining mental illness, its treatment and its place in society.

The IoPPN is divided into 14 academic departments across three major academic Schools: Academic Psychiatry, Mental Health & Psychological Sciences, and Neuroscience.

The Department of Psychosis Studies, part of the School of Academic Psychiatry, is one of the world’s leading centres for research into psychotic disorders. Our research includes the following major themes: Comorbidities & transdiagnostic approaches; Interventions; Neuroscience & biological mechanisms; Prediction and analytics; Risk factors and population health; and Treatment resistance. Our work involves a wide range of methodologies, including artificial intelligence/ digital technologies and interventions, cognitive neuroscience approaches, epidemiology, experimental medicine and clinical trials, ex vivo analyses, genomics, health service and applied research, meta-analysis?and evidence synthesis, prevention and early intervention, psychological approaches, psychopathology/ phenomenology, neuroimaging, real world data analyses and natural language processing, and stem cell techniques.?

About the role

This is an exciting position?where the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work as part of an internationally leading team of researchers investigating biological bases of neuro-psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders and the mechanism of action of treatments. The team has a particular interest in investigating the mechanism of action of cannabinoids and a key component of this program of work will involve the application of cutting-edge neuroimaging techniques (such as fMRI) to investigate the neural substrates underpinning the harmful effects of recreational cannabis use as well as potential therapeutic effects of cannabinoids. As part of this role, the appointed person will be involved in ongoing or planned randomised clinical trial/s and/ or pharmacological challenge studies.

The position is ideally suited for specialty trainees (from Psychiatry/ Neurology /Geriatric Medicine) interested in developing experience and skills in clinical trials or clinical research, in addition to gaining valuable experience in neuroimaging and neuropsychopharmacology.

The successful applicant will play a key role in the assessment and monitoring of patients taking part in ongoing studies and along with a team of researchers will contribute to the collection of clinical trial and neuroimaging data. The applicant will receive appropriate training and supervision relevant to their role and will work closely with other research and clinical staff working on the project/s, fostering effective working relationships with appropriate local services (e.g., Parkinson’s clinics at King’s College Hospital and Liaison and Geriatric Psychiatry at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust). ?

The person will be based in the Department of Psychosis Studies, School of Academic Psychiatry, IoPPN at KCL and will work closely with Prof Sagnik Bhattacharyya (https://www.kcl.ac.uk/people/professor-sagnikbhattacharyya) and other investigators based at King’s College London, in particular Dr Latha Velayudhan (https://www.kcl.ac.uk/people/dr-latha-velayudhan), based in the Psychological Medicine department at King’s College London. They will also interact with clinical fellows, research assistants, postdoctoral researchers and PhD students working in the group.?

This is a full-time, fixed term post, currently funded for 12 months with potential for extension and an anticipated start from August 2025. The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their own research interests.?and apply for funding to support an MD/PhD.?

You will be an active member of the Pharmaceutical Engineering Group to develop new, and support ongoing, research activities. This role involves supporting and advancing research activities through a combination of grant acquisition, project execution, scientific communication, and team collaboration. Key responsibilities include identifying and applying for research funding, contributing to the development and submission of grant proposals, and managing reporting for funded projects.

The position requires designing and conducting experiments, staying updated with relevant literature, and developing innovative methodologies. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is essential, alongside administrative duties to support the smooth delivery of research projects.

About the person:

	Have substantial recent experience of solid-state analytical techniques including thermal analyses (DSC, TGA), PXRD, spectroscopic structural analyses (FTIR, Raman), in-vitro drug release methods, quantification assay development (UV-vis, HPLC).
	Have experience of preparing materials for publication in international scientific journals. Experience of preparing materials for dissemination at national and/or international conferences.

The Programmes and Projects Office, a new department at the University of Surrey, is looking to recruit 2 Project Partners. It’s an exciting time to be joining us here, as the Programmes and Projects Department is becoming established and taking on new pieces of work aligned to our 2041 strategy.

Project Partners facilitate smooth and efficient project planning, management and delivery, and foster an environment of continuous improvement and innovation. They help to ensure that programmes and projects align with the University’s objectives and are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. They have overall project management responsibility for specific projects, working closely with both internal stakeholders and project owners, and other internal delivery teams.

One of the roles will have a broad remit, working across a number of projects, whereas the other role will work initially on the University’s Transnational Education (TNE) activity, and particularly on the establishment of a campus in India which needs to be ready for delivery of degree programmes by July 2026. About you

We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced individual with project management experience. Experience of working in HE is also an advantage. You’ll have experience of building relationships and contacts with a wide variety of colleagues and will demonstrate personal credibility when dealing with senior stakeholders. You’ll be able to work autonomously where needed, applying judgement and initiative when managing your workload to meet the long-term objectives of the project.

You’ll have a relevant degree or significant vocational experience, and the ideal candidate will also have a project management qualification.
