Maryam Abacha American University of Niger (MAAUN) is a private, English?language university founded in 2013 in Maradi, Niger Republic, and named after Maryam Abacha, former First Lady of Nigeria. It holds the distinction of being one of the first bilingual universities in sub?Saharan Africa, and is accredited by Niger*s Ministry of Higher Education as well as by ASIC in the United Kingdom.
Located in Maradi, Niger*s second largest city and a regional trade and agricultural centre near the Nigerian border, the university has expanded its campus network with a new branch in Kano, Nigeria as of 2022.
MAAUN is organised into multiple schools offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in areas including computer science, cyber security, law, medicine, pharmacy, nursing, public health, business, international relations, agricultural science and languages.
