Islamic Azad University, Shahr-e-Qods branch began teaching at a temporary campus in 1998. It was then officially established at its current site in the Iranian capital of Tehran in 2001.
It is a vast university, educating more than 35,000 students on a 39-acre campus. Undergraduate and postgraduate students can choose from more than 300 degree courses, spread across four faculties: engineering; agriculture; humanities and social sciences; and basic sciences.
A nearby science and research campus was established in 2011, and most of the admin offices and postgraduate classes subsequently relocated there.
The agriculture faculty has access to 12 acres of gardening and agricultural land. The campus also includes four sports complexes, offering activities including table tennis, body-building, karate, volleyball and chess.
The campus also has its own mosque.

The Center for Interacting Urban Networks (CITIES) at NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking a motivated and skilled Research Assistant to help drive the next generation of urban research and community-focused innovation in the UAE.

About the Role

As a Research Assistant, you will support cutting-edge projects in urban science, computational social science, and usability research. You’ll work closely with our team of Principal Investigators (PIs) to design and implement data-driven systems, conduct advanced analyses, and promote sustainable and equitable urban living through digital tools such as CITIESair and the CITIES Dashboard. You’ll also play a key role in community outreach, engaging with stakeholders across academia, public institutions, and local communities.

What You’ll Do


	Enhance and expand CITIES Digital Initiatives (CITIESair and CITIES Dashboard)
	Build user interfaces and web/mobile applications for academic research
	Conduct usability testing, data analysis, and visualization for interdisciplinary studies
	Coordinate with local and regional partners, including schools, government bodies, and NGOs
	Collaborate with other NYUAD research centers on projects related to sustainability and digitalization
	Mentor undergraduate student assistants and support research fellows
	Organize workshops, community events, and help publicize CITIES' research.


What We’re Looking For

Required:


	Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
	Strong programming skills in web and mobile development (e.g., HTML, JavaScript, React)
	Experience with Internet-of-Things (IoT), especially air quality sensor networks
	Data analysis and visualization skills (Python, R, Google Charts, etc.)
	Familiarity with both qualitative and quantitative research methods
	Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills


Preferred:


	Training in smart cities or software-enabled sustainability
	Knowledge of WordPress and experience managing student assistants
	Background in community-focused research or civic tech

Setting:

The University of Vienna seeks to fill a position of University Assistant (prae doc), for a period of 4 years, focusing on process mining. The selected prae doc will become part of the Research Group Workflow Systems and Technology (WST) at the Faculty of Computer Science and will work towards obtaining a doctorate degree (PhD) under the supervision of Prof. Han van der Aa. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.

The WST research group focuses on research in process mining, which revolves around the data-driven analysis of organizational processes. You will have the opportunity to set your own research agenda, publish your work at leading international conferences, and exchange ideas with international and interdisciplinary collaboration partners.

The Faculty of Computer Science of the University of Vienna has world-leading researchers in Computer Science who pursue basic as well as applied research. The selected praedoc will also become part of the UniVie Doctoral School Computer Science (DoCS), which builds an essential framework to foster excellence in research and teaching.

The appointment is for 4 years, whereby the employment contract is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of 4 years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months.

Your future tasks:

You will actively participate in research, teaching, and administration, which means that you:


	are involved in process mining research
	will work on your doctoral dissertation and its completion
	will contribute to the teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
	will supervise students in bachelor and master projects
	will contribute to the administration and other operational aspects of the group's scientific and educational activities


Your profile:


	Master's degree in Computer Science, (Business) Information Systems, Data Science, or an equvalent qualification with excellent grades
	An excellent command of English (spoken and written)
	A strong interest to work in process mining (experience is preferred but not required)
	Good programming skills, preferably in Python
	Strong ability to work in teams

Desirable qualifications are


	Knowledge of process mining
	Experience with process modeling (Petri nets, BPMN, etc.)

The successful candidate will hold a City and Guilds qualification and/or minimum NVQ 2 qualification and served an apprenticeship in one primary core building trade with the confidence and ability to undertake a full range of duties in at least two other secondary building related trade disciplines. They will also have experience of maintenance and repairs in a live dynamic environment plus have a customer focused ‘right first time’ attitude and flexible approach to working. Experience of using a CAFM system to access and complete work requests would be an advantage. They should be familiar with H&S legislation and understanding of risk assessments, method statements, COSHH assessments and how to apply these to planned and reactive maintenance.?

A full driving license to travel to other local sites is essential.??

The mission of the Department of Surgical & Interventional Engineering (SIE) within the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences (BMEIS) is to bring together engineering and clinical experts to develop new surgical and interventional technologies for a wide range of clinical applications with a focus on combining diagnostic information to support image-guidance during procedures. The department boasts unique world-class facilities for SIE research. Our Validation Suite is a unique combination of an Integration Room, a versatile laboratory space where researchers can setup complex novel medical systems into fully integrated platforms, and an Intervention Room, a state-of-the-art simulated operative theatre where the technology can be deployed and tested on post-mortem models in a realistic surgical environment.?

About The Role

We are seeking to recruit research software engineers to help translate the next generation of AI-assisted imaging systems for surgical guidance. The postholder, based within the Department of Surgical & Interventional Engineering at King’s College London, will play a key role in collaborative projects with King’s College Hospital. The role will involve supporting two ongoing clinical neurosurgery study. The successful candidates will join the clinical study team to help curate high-quality data.?

The postholders will help support data analysis tasks and work on computational algorithms to help streamline data annotation. Image computing activities involve expanding on interactive segmentation algorithms to accelerate data annotation. The recruited individuals will complement our multidisciplinary team, undertake research in computer-assisted intervention, and consolidate our existing software infrastructure.?

The post involves close and active collaboration with the surgical team, researchers, and engineers. The candidate will work closely with the rest of the team to correlate surgical data with other rich clinical data sources (e.g. surgical microscopy, histopathology).

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 30 Sep 2025.
