The International University for the Humanities and Development was founded in 2014.
It has faculties of economics and management, information technology, social and humanities studies, international law and international relations, and languages (predominantly English). Each of the faculties has a student club associated which is open to students from other faculties.
The university offers one-year courses in English as well as English for Specialist Purpose modules which provide knowledge of the specialised vocabulary associated with particular disciplines.

Your future position is at the unit for Finno-Ugric Studies, part of the Department of European and Comparative Literature and Language Studies, characterized by a broad range of research interests within Finno-Ugric studies in the wide sense of the word and by intensive international networking.

The department is part of the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies. We appreciate our diversity of research topics, internationality, interdisciplinary cooperation and exchange between colleagues.?

Your future tasks:

Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:


	You build up an independent research profile in the field of Finno-Ugric studies (also outside the fields of Hungarian or Finnish studies).
	You are involved in research projects.
	You publish internationally and give lectures.
	You apply for projects and raise third-party funds.
	You prepare and complete a publication-ready habilitation.
	You hold courses (also about Finno-Ugric minority languages) independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
	You participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance.
	You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.


This is part of your personality:


	Completed, thematically relevant doctoral/PhD studies
	Research competence and initiative proven through international publications
	Experience in research management and in leading project staff
	Didactic skills / experience in e-learning
	Language skills: Fluent in English; good knowledge of German or commitment to acquire practical German skills as soon as possible
	Practical Hungarian, Finnish, or Estonian language skills (preferably more than one of these) are a significant advantage
	Team player and high social/communicative skills

The role

You will be at the heart of our library's daily operations, ensuring a welcoming environment for all users from the Library Welcome Desk. Your role will involve assisting in-person with general user access and lending tasks, including greeting visitors and supporting membership procedures. You'll provide guidance on accessing resources, collections, and services, offer support for digital resources and printing services. Additionally, you'll address information enquiries, library account queries, book retrieval and help manage our learning spaces, ensuring a positive and inclusive library experience for everyone.

The post holder will work on campus afternoon and evening hours, Monday to Friday, throughout the year. The expected working pattern is 16:00 - midnight but there may be some flexibility on an individual basis (please speak to Catherine Batson?c.batson@surrey.ac.uk?if you would like to discuss this).

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident individual with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service, who can deal with multiple enquiries at our busy Library Welcome Desk as well as online.?

You will be proactive, well organised, reliable and a be a great communicator, delivering services with a smile. You will be able to work independently, have good IT skills, and be the main point of contact for any issues that arise.

Our engineering degree programmes have been developed through extensive consultation with industry, thus creating a curriculum that supports the industry’s needs in manpower development and innovation. SIT focuses on working with the industry on translational research and innovation, spanning technology readiness levels (TRLs) 3-7. Unlike traditional research which is discovery-oriented, applied research projects have higher TRLs which bridge the gap between theoretical research and industry applications. SIT Engineering Cluster focusses on the five key pillars of Applied Research (i) Infrastructure (Maintenance) (ii) Sustainability (Built Environment) (iii) Energy Resilience (iv) Maritime Engineering and (v) Advanced Manufacturing, working with various industry sectors in Singapore as well as in the region.

For this faculty position in area of?aquaculture technologies, we are looking for candidates with the following essential and desirable skillset and competencies.

Essential


	Academic and/or industrial experience in engineering solutions for the aquaculture industry
	Expertise in some or any of the areas of systems engineering, robotics, automation, IOT, and data analytics
	Experience and knowledgeable in the field of aquaculture, with basic knowledge of the related sciences
	Motivated to develop and to teach aquaculture technologies curriculum
	Strong demonstration of interest to develop solutions through applied research projects


Desirable


	Good knowledge in aquaculture system design, including RAS, monitoring system, and energy management
	Experience in emerging applications of automation, artificial intelligence and data analytics solutions for aquaculture
	Hands on experience in commercial aquaculture farm operation is a plus?
	Preferred to having a PhD in a related technical area
	Led or involved in strong industry - academia partnership projects
