About the Role

Mechanical Engineering at Flinders University is growing and is a key part of the Factory of the Future, a world-class advanced manufacturing facility that is the first of its kind in Australia.

Mechanical Engineering is based in our state-of-the-art Tonsley Innovation District and new City Campus, both with direct access to established collaborative industry partners. The Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering will contribute to promoting the College as a centre of excellence in Engineering education and research, both nationally, and internationally.

In this Teaching & Research (Balanced) position, other responsibilities will include:


	Planning and delivering teaching in the broad area of engineering but with specific focus on mechanical engineering.
	Publishing high quality publications in mechanical engineering and associated areas and attracting competitive grants.
	Supervising honours and higher degree students.


About You

You will hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a growing record of excellence in teaching and research. You will demonstrate experience in delivering high-quality, student-centred teaching in a tertiary environment, including topic coordination, curriculum design, and use of e-learning platforms. Your research will complement existing strengths within the University, supported by a track record of quality publications and the ability to attract external funding.

This Customer Services Assistant position offers the opportunity to provide excellent service throughout the day for students, residents and other customers who interact with our services. You will be calm under pressure and have a commitment to providing excellent customer service at every touchpoint, whilst supporting the ongoing development and improvement projects for our customer facing areas. As an excellent communicator and multi-tasker, you will also play a part in providing valuable support to the supervisory team at the Mayflower Halls of Residence both within and outside of reception.

To ensure the smooth running of our service you will need to work in close partnership with colleagues in the Student Life team who collectively provide a 24/7 support to students in Halls. You will also need to collaborate with other departments within the University and external contractors who deliver services within our Halls of Residence.

The successful candidate will be able to evidence experience of working within a busy and diverse customer service environment. We are looking for an approachable and organised character with excellent communication skills. You will need to be confident working within a team, and customer service skills across any industry could well be an advantage. The department uses multiple computer systems to deliver its services therefore experience using multiple systems is essential.

This position is currently being advertised for 36-hours per week, on a Monday-Friday rota working between the hours of 8am and 8pm, but more generally shifts of 8am-4pm and 12pm-8pm. You will also be expected to be available for occasional weekend / evening working to support peak activity times during the academic year such as student arrivals/departure events and open days - we provide you with an 'annual leave embargo calendar' which shows you working weekends through the year. The site to be covered is Mayflower Halls, although you may be asked at times to cover any of our other sites, particularly in Small Halls - Gateley and Highfield Hall in Southampton, and Erasmus Park in Winchester.?

	Assist the senior management in reviewing and formulating the University's strategies and policies in research
