Frontier University Garowe was originally founded in 2011 and began offering academic programmes the same year. Today, it is one of the leading private universities in Somalia, with a steadily growing student population.

The university is comprised of five faculties: Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, Faculty of Economics, Management, and Social Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Security Studies, Justice and Ethics.
