Dumping gas and oil installations such as Brent Spar at sea should still be considered as an option, according to the House of Lords science and technology select committee. But the installations must be thoroughly cleaned first. The Lords warns that the impact of disposal at sea cannot be considered in isolation: land disposal of installations will also have an environmental impact.
