Spotted recently outside the Houndsditch headquarters of London Guildhall University was a vehicle costing rather more than Ms Stewart's venerable Vauxhall - to wit a magnificently ostentatious bright red Porsche with the self-effacing number plate EGO 4.

Nothing, sadly, to do with provost Roderick Floud or anyone else at LGU, where most informed opinion points to the merchant bankers down the road.
