Abuse of the professorial title is easily remedied (¡°Ersatz professors should be booed off the stage¡±, Opinion, 17 March). Section B3 of the Quality Assurance Agency¡¯s Quality Code insists that ¡°Higher education providers assure themselves that everyone involved in teaching or supporting student learning is appropriately qualified, supported and developed¡±. This section could easily be expanded to permit scrutiny, institution by institution, of the academic standards that underpin professorial appointments.
