Don't put down the dying

Malcolm Johnson's arguments logically lead to the euthanising of the mentally ill and the clinically depressed if they don't respond to medication ("Departing with dignity: the ultimate palliative care is a true act of love", 19 February). Another society in the last century made the same deductions. The moral of what Johnson has observed is that we need to do more for the dying, not put them down.
