The response to Cantor's cogent argument, that the RAE results would be much more meaningful if we knew the number of staff returned to each subpanel, is in his own hands. He should publish the relevant data for his own university then convince - shame? - other vice-chancellors to do similar, and get Universities UK to produce a consolidated list.
