A £1.6 million grant from Leukaemia Research to fund work analysing a wide range of cancer-causing genes has been won by the University of Manchester. Leukaemia Research currently provides more than £3.6 million in funding to the School of Cancer and Imaging Sciences, aiding research in other areas of the Manchester Cancer Research Centre. Tony Whetton, professor of cancer cell biology, said: "In the past few years, we have developed a multidisciplinary research approach, employing cutting-edge technologies to take basic research towards clinical relevance as swiftly as possible."
