Minister opens portal

A new website to give prospective students advice about the cost of university study, course options and what undergraduate life is like was launched by Kim Howells, the new Higher Education Minister, this week.

Dr Howells was at Westminster University on Thursday to launch the Aimhigher website, the latest element of the Government and Higher Education Funding Council for England's project to widen participation.

The launch of the Aimhigher portal coincided with publication of a new handbook by the National Union of Students.
