* University College Suffolk is offering free tuition on the first module of all its part-time modular degree programmes to encourage local people to sign up for courses, in spite of this year's fee charges.
The university, which offers degrees validated by the University of East Anglia, will waive the Pounds 175 cost of a module, in the hope that once students have tasted study they will continue.
