Charles Pasternack is wrong - there are no professors of leather technology in the UK or Europe, and I should know (Features, THES , August 8).

But the world's leading School of Leather Technology is at University College Northampton. Students study at the boundaries of chemistry, biochemistry, protein science, materials science and engineering up to doctoral level.
