Screening & Prevention Module Spring 2025

All 51³Ô¹Ïmembers are invited to participate in the Screening & Prevention Module of the Clinical Benchmarking Program. This module will assess whether randomly selected medical charts contain appropriate documentation of allergies and influenza vaccination, as well as screening for tobacco/nicotine use, unhealthy drug use, unhealthy alcohol use, and depression.

Each health center will review 25 randomly selected charts that meet the following criteria:

  • include at least one primary care visit between Sept 1, 2024 and February 28, 2025, AND
  • patient is 18 years of age or older, AND
  • WITHOUT an existing diagnosis of depression

For each chart, the reviewer should determine whether six Screening & Prevention Clinical Benchmarks have been appropriately documented using the criteria outlined in the Background/Instructions/Scoring Criteria document. Record your responses on the Chart Review Documentation worksheet and then to the 51³Ô¹ÏResearch Department.

Submit your completed materials by July 11, 2025.

About the Clinical Benchmarking Program

A significant part of the 51³Ô¹Ï’s mission is to enhance its members’ ability to advance the health of all students and the campus community. To meet this mission, ACHA, through its Benchmarking Committee, has developed a series of clinical benchmarking tools in response to many institutions’ desire to have a means to benchmark their clinical quality care standards. The benchmarking measures have been based on input from members, other national and governmental health care organizations, and evidence-based literature.

Goals of the Clinical Benchmarking Program

  • To identify areas and means of performance improvement
  • To understand the quality of care provided by member institutions for college students
  • To find areas of potential education and focus for 51³Ô¹Ïinitiatives to improve quality of care in college health

For 51³Ô¹Ïand the Clinical Benchmarking Program participants to compare quality provided by member organizations against community and national standards.
