For the second week running, Phil Baty's column has attacked Middlesex University. We will keep our comments on "Middlesex jitters" (Whistleblowers, THES, May 14) as brief as possible.

Middlesex is fully committed to its pioneering work on Whistleblowing. No one has any "nervousness" about it. The university will not discuss the behaviour of its current or ex-staff in public, despite gross misrepresentation. The THES gave no one named in this piece sufficient time to comment on statements made before you published.
