The European Commission has issued a prior information notice for series of studies.

The studies referred to in the notice are the following:

- To enlarge the European Research Area: identify the priorities of regional policy stressing research and technological development in the applicant countries (infrastructure and strategy)

Scheduled date for starting award procedure - April 2003.
Estimated budget - 60,000 euro.

- Local industrial production systems (clusters) in European regions with specific importance in terms of research and development policy

Scheduled date for starting award procedure - Second quarter of 2003
Estimated budget - 60,000 euro.

- Interactions between military research and civilian research, and use of the results from said research in the United States and in Europe. RDT investment in defence and security in major armaments-industry countries

Scheduled date for starting award procedure - second half of 2003
Estimated budget - 200,000 euro.

- The impact state aid for research and development and their control have/could have on carrying out the three per cent objective

Scheduled date for starting award procedure - second half of 2003
Estimated budget - 200,000 euro.

- Creativity in science and technology: Europe compared to the United States

Scheduled date for starting award procedure - first half of 2003
Estimated budget - 300,000 euro.

- Impact study on Fifth Framework Programme activities

Scheduled date for starting award procedure - 2003
Estimated budget - 150,000 euro.

- Study on projects with a major impact

Scheduled date for starting award procedure - 2003
Estimated budget - 100,000 euro.

- Study on the implementation of the sixth framework programme (instruments)

Scheduled date for starting award procedure - 2003
Estimated budget - 150,000 euro.

- Bibliometrical study

Scheduled date for starting award procedure - 2003
Estimated budget - 100,000 euro.

- 51³Ô¹Ï study to assess EC research activities

Scheduled date for starting award procedure - 2003
Estimated budget - 50,000 euro.
