Gang who kidnapped rector jailed

Six gang members who kidnapped the rector of a Peruvian university at gunpoint have each been given prison sentences of 20 years. Abraham Zambrano Sayaverde, former rector of the Universidad Particular Inca Garcilaso de La Vega, was held for a ransom of 2 million soles (?397,000) in 1998. A former employee of the university was found guilty of having masterminded the operation.
