Students at Exeter University's Students' Guild annual general meeting defeated a motion that proposed having the entire student body vote on the AUT's assessment boycott and what the Student Guild response on the issue should be. This motion was submitted to redress guild president Alain Desmier's opposition to the AUT's action without even a nod to the democratic process.
What does it mean when the guild president leads the opposition against a motion that would give his fellow students the right to vote? Without a proper vote to determine student opinion, Desmier is not representing the majority of students at Exeter.
