The Singapore Teaching and Academic Research Talent (START) Scheme is co-funded by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and SIT to encourage and support exceptional?Singaporeans who are?interested in pursuing an academic career at SIT.

The Applied Research Fellowship aims to provide doctoral candidates who are about to complete or have recently completed their studies an opportunity to engage in advanced training and/or research at an overseas university for one year.?

Besides financial support, awardees will also receive academic mentorship.?

Upon completion of the Fellowship, awardees will be considered for Assistant Professorship.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria


	Singapore citizen?
	Doctoral candidates who have recently completed or are about to complete their studies in a discipline under the supported areas for START below?
	Excellent academic record plus a high degree of proficiency and motivation for selected research area?
	Have been accepted or have applied for a postdoctoral training at a leading overseas university in a research area that is aligned with SIT’s supported areas?
	A keen interest in an academic career

Fellows will also each be assigned a SIT faculty mentor throughout their post-doctoral training and have opportunities to participate in faculty development programmes.

The fellowship is tenable for one year. On an exception basis, a two-year programme may be supported.

One year for every year of sponsorship.

	Interview by the respective clusters for shortlisted applicants will be conducted throughout the year.??
	Final Interview by the Panel for shortlisted applicants for the 2026 intake will commence in Mid-March to End April 2026.?

	Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE):?The planning, management, and execution of business events, corporate gatherings, and large-scale conferences. This field is a key segment of the tourism and hospitality industry, requiring expertise in event management, business tourism, marketing, logistics, and stakeholder engagement.

Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) aspires to be a leader in innovative learning by integrating learning, industry and community. Its mission is to nurture and develop individuals who build on their interests and talents to impact society in meaningful ways.

Our engineering degree programmes have been developed through extensive consultation with industry, thus creating a curriculum that supports the industry’s needs in manpower development and innovation. SIT focuses on working with the industry on translational research and innovation, spanning technology readiness levels (TRLs) 3-7. Unlike traditional research which is discovery-oriented, applied research projects have higher TRLs which bridge the gap between theoretical research and industry applications. SIT Engineering Cluster focusses on the five key pillars of Applied Research (i) Infrastructure (Maintenance) (ii) Sustainability (Built Environment) (iii) Energy Resilience (iv) Maritime Engineering and (v) Advanced Manufacturing, working with various industry sectors in Singapore as well as in the region.

For this faculty position in area of?aquaculture technologies, we are looking for candidates with the following essential and desirable skillset and competencies.

Essential


	Academic and/or industrial experience in engineering solutions for the aquaculture industry
	Expertise in some or any of the areas of systems engineering, robotics, automation, IOT, and data analytics
	Experience and knowledgeable in the field of aquaculture, with basic knowledge of the related sciences
	Motivated to develop and to teach aquaculture technologies curriculum
	Strong demonstration of interest to develop solutions through applied research projects


Desirable


	Good knowledge in aquaculture system design, including RAS, monitoring system, and energy management
	Experience in emerging applications of automation, artificial intelligence and data analytics solutions for aquaculture
	Hands on experience in commercial aquaculture farm operation is a plus?

The role

You will be at the heart of our library's daily operations, ensuring a welcoming environment for all users from the Library Welcome Desk. Your role will involve assisting in-person with general user access and lending tasks, including greeting visitors and supporting membership procedures. You'll provide guidance on accessing resources, collections, and services, offer support for digital resources and printing services. Additionally, you'll address information enquiries, library account queries, book retrieval and help manage our learning spaces, ensuring a positive and inclusive library experience for everyone.

The post holder will work on campus afternoon and evening hours, Monday to Friday, throughout the year. The University of Surrey is delighted to announce a renewal of the Surrey Poetry Fellowship, as part of the institution’s longstanding commitment to establishing Guildford as a centre for the creation, performance, publication and study of poetry.

This year’s poet in residence will build upon the legacy of the university’s first teacher of poetry, Morag Morris, and the work of previous Surrey Poetry Fellows, Amy De’Ath, Sophie Robinson, Stephen Mooney, Jessica Pujol, Nicholas Johnson, Prudence Chamberlain, Jow Lindsay-Walton, James Davies, Verity Spott, Robert Kiely, Karenjit Sandhu, Briony Hughs and Peter Jaeger.

The Poet in Residence will play a key role in organising the Surrey Poetry Festival, will organise five or six regular poetry workshops for students and possibly other members of the university and beyond, will introduce the guest speaker at the Morag Morris Poetry Lecture, and may participate in other projects within the Department. The postholder’s first objective, however, will be to write poetry which engages with the research culture in the department, particularly in the field of contemporary and innovative literature. The Poet in Residence will also convene and teach the 1st Year Understanding Poetry module offered by the Department of Literature and Languages.

The current expectation is that the post-holder will need to be present on campus to deliver the poetry workshops (five to six spread across both semesters) as well as to teach classes on the Understanding Poetry module on one or two mornings or afternoons per week over Semester Two (February to May 2026), as well as convening the module (this will involve responding to student queries about the module via email in a timely fashion and having a regular online office hour for student consultations). The teaching semester is 11 weeks long.

Overall, this part-time post will amount to appx 65-70 hours for poet in Residence work, plus module teaching hours over the course of the academic year amounting to appx 49 hours.

An honours postgraduate degree or equivalent professional qualification is required. A postgraduate qualification/teaching qualification would also be desirable. Teaching experience and event management experience is essential. Good organisational and IT skills are necessary as well as the ability to work independently.
