Coal City University is a not-for-profit private university that was established in 2016.

The university was established due to the vision of hilanthropist, Rev Fr Prof. Stan Anih, who wanted to provide Africa with a world-class university that produced individuals to drive positive change in the world. The university was established and opened with two faculties, the faculty of arts, social and management sciences and faculty of natural and applied sciences.

Today, the university has three main faculties with the addition of the faculty of education. Courses are taught through small, interactive lectures, practical assessment, and an emphasis on industry experience. Across its faculties, students can choose from a range of undergraduate degree programmes.

Students at the university can access free accommodation.

The campus is located in the Southeastern Nigerian town of Emene Enugu.
