Controversial drugs researcher Martin Plant aims to take Edinburgh's Queen Margaret College to an industrial tribunal, claiming unfair dismissal. A preliminary hearing to determine whether a case should go ahead is scheduled for November. Dr Plant, former head of Edinburgh University's alcohol and research unit, left after a 20-year association when his contract expired last year.
