Bad managers make good university bullies

Cary Cooper, professor of organisational psychology at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, said a recent study of lecturers in Wales found 18 per cent of respondents claimed they had been bullied while 22 per cent said they had witnessed bullying. He said higher education was particularly a victim of "work-overload bullies", who bully because they cannot cope with increased work and responsibilities, rather than "psychopathic bullies", who bully to make themselves feel good.
